Winged horses, Legends, and Honor
By Janalyn Voigt
Winged horses run wild in the impenetrable mountains of Elderland and often fly out at night to avoid giant birds of prey. Wingabeasts eluded human capture for ages. Then the son of the Faeraven’s high king roped a wingabeast, starting a legend.
We hear much of dragons in fantasy books, but little about winged horses. A goal of Janalyn Voigt’s in her Faerhaven series--for readers to feel the exhilarating experience of riding a winged horse.
The Tales of Faeraven include adventure, suspense, romance, a deep sense of history, and (of course) winged horses. Focusing on concepts of honor and integrity, these books present wholesome values in an entertaining format for young adult and adult readers of medieval epic fantasy written in the modes of Tolkien and Lewis.
About Janalyn Voigt
Her father’s bedtime stories unfolded exotic places like Oz and Neverland. Janalyn’s imagination carried on with the tales and she later created her own. She soon became the neighborhood storyteller. Her sixth-grade teacher encouraged her ability to spin a tale and at age twelve Janalyn decided to become a novelist. Fulfilling that dream took years but now her stories intrigue a larger and eager audience.
